What is youth group?
A.
Youth group is a great way to hang out with your Jewish friends!
Youth group activities include anything from sports, outdoor
activities, dancing, singing, arts and crafts, to community
service, social action, and of course celebrating being Jewish!
We offer four different youth groups based on your secular
school grade (Chaverim,
Bonim,
Jr. PARTY, and
PARTY).

How do I become a member of the youth group?
A.
Easy! Contact the synagogue office (954-346-7878)
to obtain a
registration form!

How old do I have to be to join
Chaverim?
A.
If you are going into Kindergarten through 2nd
Grades, you are welcome to join!
Q.
How old do I have to be to join
Bonim?
A.
If you are going into 3rd through 5th
Grades, you are welcome to join!
Q.
How old do I have to be to join
Junior PARTY?
A.
If you are going into 6th through 8th
Grades, please join us for the PARTY!

If you are going into 9th through 12th
Grades, please join us for the PARTY!

for?

What are the fees for youth group?
A.
Temple Membership for K-5 Grade Groups is $36;
Non-Temple Membership for K-5 Grade Groups is $50. Temple
Membership for 6-12 Grade Groups is $50; Non-Temple Membership
for 6-12 Grade Groups is$75.
Q.
Where does youth group meet?
A.
Youth group ALWAYS meets at the synagogue in the
YOUTH LOUNGE for the Chaverim group!
However, the Bonim,
Jr. PARTY, and
PARTY groups will usually meet at the synagogue in the Youth
Lounge, but will have field trips off campus!
Q.
How long is each program?
A.
The programs are generally 1 ˝ hours long, unless
otherwise noted beforehand!
Q.
Do I have to pay for each youth program?
A.
Nope! We try to plan as many FREE programs as
possible, although there will be times when a fee is necessary.
Q.
Do I need to attend every youth group program?
A.
We would LOVE to have you at EVERY program, but
of course, please come as often as you can!
Q.
What do I wear to activities or events?
A.
Remember, we are a Jewish youth group; so please
dress appropriately (no graphic tees with explicit language or
content)!

Where should I meet my parents after an event?
A.
Your parents can meet you right outside the
school building (the same place they pick you up after Hebrew
School).
Q.
How often does my youth group meet?
A.
Chaverim and
Bonim meets once a month on Sundays;
Jr. PARTY meets TWICE per month on
Thursdays (and some Saturdays); PARTY
meets TWICE per month on Wednesdays (and some Saturdays).

What is NFTY?
A.
NFTY stands for North Federation of Temple Youth
and is affiliated with the Union of Reform Judaism (URJ). NFTY
holds regional and sub-regional events each year! Check their

Is youth group affiliated with Camp Coleman?
A. Of Course! Bring all of your fun stories,
pictures, and energy from your summer experience at Camp Coleman
to youth group!
Q.
I am a member of a CKT youth group and I would like to bring a
Jewish friend to a program; are they welcome?
A.
Yes! However, after attending two programs or more, membership
registration and fees required!
Q.
I want to bring a snack or a lunch (if necessary) with me to a
program, does it have to be kosher?
A.
CKT follows the religious observances of the Union of Reform
Judaism, and therefore all food is welcomed except shellfish and
pork products.
Q.
I just got my drivers’ license and I am so excited to drive! Can
I drive myself or friends to youth group activities?
A.
Driving yourself to chapter events held on synagogue property is
allowed; but driving yourself to sub-regional or regional events
for NFTY is forbidden! |
