January 23, 2012
Dear Friends:
On behalf of our Social
Action Committee, we want to thank all the
families who generously contributed their time and effort
to make peanut butter and jelly sandwich
lunches, which Brandon Rudich delivered today to LifeNet4Families
(formerly Cooperative Feeding of Broward) who have, for over 25 years,
helped the hungry and homeless of Broward County.
We had over 50 families participate and we collected over 800 lunches!
A special thanks goes out to our ECC
families who really stepped up and brought many of the lunches.
It was great to see all the little
children who not only enjoyed helping make the sandwiches, but more
importantly, learned another level of tzedakah.
We will be having another lunch making project on Monday, February 27th.
Please check the Kol Tikvah website for
details. Emails
will go out to our school families.
Let's get 100 families to make 2000
sandwiches next time.
It's easy, it involves the whole family,
and it teaches us another example of Tikkun Olam, repairing the world,
one loving act at a time.

The
JAFCO Group Home Program is a special place where children who are
unable to live with their own family can live in a loving family-like
setting. The children are cared for by loving house parents who are in
the home 24 hours a day and act as the parent for the child preparing
meals, driving them to school and activities, arranging for doctor's
appointments and visits with friends and family, doing homework and
going on outings to the movies, sporting events, the beach and out to
dinner.
The 6 Group Homes at the JAFCO Jewish Children's Village were
established 8 years ago and are in great need of refreshing and
restocking with new kitchen items. Please help by purchasing your
"kitchen shower" gift at Target or Bed Bath & Beyond or by donating gift
certificates from those stores. The registries can be found online at:
Bed Bath & Beyond Registry
and
Target Registry(login
for both is jafco/jafco) It
is as easy as going online and the store will ship the gift directly to
JAFCO! |

Mazon is the Jewish
Community's response to Hunger. Our Jewish tradition compels us to set
aside "the corners of our fields" for the poor and the stranger, so they
might share in the bounty of our harvest. The Union For Reform Judaism's
Religious Action Center encourages all reform Jews to support "The
Corners Of Our Fields" appeal that seeks food for local charities and
funds for Mazon. Please consider supporting
Mazon.
