Forty-four pre-K students celebrate graduation

from the Phylis J. Green ECC in Parkland

Parkland, FL – “Love, Peace and Graduation” was the theme for this year’s Pre-Kindergarten Graduation at the Phylis J. Green Early Childhood Center at Congregation Kol Tikvah, 6750 University Drive, Parkland.

In keeping with the theme, there was plenty of tye-dye, smiley face decorations and peace symbols at the recent Pre-K prom and graduation celebration.

The day prior to all the “Pomp and Circumstance,” the forty-four proud students partied the afternoon away at their very own prom. Complete with a disc jockey, dance floor and fully decorated banquet hall, the children enjoyed music, games, prizes, pizza and ice cream sundaes.

Then, on the evening of June 4, 2009, family and friends gathered at Congregation Kol Tikvah for a moving ceremony. Each of the three classes sang songs and recited poems before donning their caps and gowns to accept their diplomas.

Special thanks go to the pre-kindergarten teachers for their great work with the children all year: Jodie Reisner, Tracey Getz, Robin Liebhaber, Jackie Morin, Judi Russo and Ilita Temple. The school also extends its appreciation to Dr. Rose Weiss, ECC Director; Eileen Rosenthal, Assistant ECC Director; PTO President Stephanie Kaufman; the Graduation Committee for their hard work; Elana Cohn for her creativity and time; Joanne Rosenthal for a wonderful yearbook; and the Red Wagon Toy Store for their generosity.

Congregation Kol Tikvah is celebrating its 18th “Chai” birthday with special events. The community is invited to learn more about the preschool and programs at “A Taste of Kol Tikvah” on Sunday, August 30 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. A free concert will follow at 4:30 p.m. with Rick Recht, a top-touring Jewish musician.
