The Phylis J. Green ECC Mommy & Me program prides itself on
providing an enriching and stimulating experience for both parent and child.
Mommy & Me is a valuable one-on-one time that you and your child can enjoy
together. It provides opportunities for you to learn new ways to connect with
your child and build on existing skills, while adding new ones. Each class
will incorporate the best and most developmentally appropriate practices of
working with young children.
Kim Singer is a Florida State Certified Teacher of the Deaf with
a Masters of Education and a Preschool Handicapped Endorsement. She has worked
with the 0-5 population in Broward County for close to a decade. As a
Parent/Infant Specialist, she has had the opportunity to work with a wide array
of families. Kim also teaches Mommy and Me and Baby Signs classes at the
Parenting Place at Nova University. Each work experience has taught her
something new, allowing her to build a repertoire of valuable skills. In
addition, her true “work” experience has been the hands-on training she has
gotten parenting her own young daughters. It is with this mind that Kim plans
child-centered activities that are easy for parents to recreate in their real
lives.
In each one hour theme-based session, children will enjoy circle
time, learn new songs and fingerplays, share in a wide variety of activities
aimed at each area of learning, and learn the basic rules and structure oft heir
first “school” experience, The work of children is play. Through structured play
and interactive activities, they will be given the environment to best do their
work.
In addition, each class will have a focus topic relevant to the
developmental age of the children. The parent will leave each class armed with
the knowledge to go home and play with their child in new and creative ways.
Kim’s goals are the same as yours: to provide a rich learning experience for you
and your child.
