More free flowing than a book club, not as spiritual as a Rosh Chodesh
group, and more intimate than a lecture; a Lilith salon is a gathering where
a dozen or so people meet for an evening or afternoon of good talk,
refreshments, and renewed energy.
Created by the Lilith
magazine, the print “salon” for Jewish women’s conversations for nearly
three decades, these gatherings are being offered by Women of reform Judaism
to sisterhood women across North America.
Each salon triggers
topics taken from the latest issue of Lilith, but the conversations moves in
whatever directions the participants take it: reproductive rights,
interracial families, or new rituals for Jewish weddings.
Pilot Lilith salons
have already met in 38 sisterhoods, and the participants rave about the
experience. One participant said:
|
“Thanks so
much for a wonderful and soul warming evening. What went on in
the Lilith salon is rare and precious, as evidenced by the
intensity and excitement of the participants” |

Why WRJ salons? Jewish
women’s salons bring the power and pleasure of conversation back into our
busy lives. Salons are a low-key way to inspire face-to-face encounters,
forge new friendships in your sisterhood, energize Reform women for a
social-action agenda, and create a magnet for women who have not yet joined
other sisterhood activities.
