ROSE WEISS
starts
the sixth year as Director of the Early Childhood Center at Congregation
Kol Tikvah. She is originally from New York and relocated to Florida in
1987. She has been married for 36 years to Bruce, a Respiratory
Therapist at Florida Medical Center. Her oldest son Jason is an attorney
at the firm of Atkinson, Diner, Stone, Mankuta & Ploucha in Fort
Lauderdale and is married to Tova. They have a son, Logan. Her middle
son Gregory is a Psychiatrist at Duke Medical Center in North Carolina
and is married to Alexandra, also a Psychiatrist at the same hospital
and they have a son, Jonah. Her youngest son, Nathaniel lives in Ireland
and plays professional soccer for Longford Town.
Dr.
Rose Weiss has been in education since graduating from Brooklyn College
with at Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. She went on to
receive her Master of Science Degree at Brooklyn College while
simultaneously teaching second grade in a public school in Brooklyn New
York. She received her Doctorate of Education Degree from Nova
University. In her many years of teaching she had the opportunity to
serve in various positions including teaching in the Gifted Program
(Astor), in Brooklyn New York; Pre Kindergarten at Sunrise Jewish
Center; the director and principal of a private school; an Adjunct
Professor of Education at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Palm
Beach Community College and the University of Phoenix Online Masters
Program; and a Child Care Trainer for The Family Center at Nova
University. In her spare time, she reads and reviews educational
manuscripts for Corwin Press Publishing Company and Centage Publishing
Company.
Her philosophy of education begins with a sense of “can do”. She
believes that all children can learn and succeed with any task presented
to them, but they must be active participants in this learning process.
