8th Grade Post B'nai Mitzvah Classes
The 8th graders, facilitated by Mike
Masarek, a veteran congregant who earned his Master's Degree in Jewish
Education from Gratz College, will engage in discussions on major Jewish
topics on a much more adult level that they ever did
prior to B'nai Mitzvah.
The goal of the class is to challenge the
students to think more deeply and independently about some of Judaism's
most important concepts.
Topics include The Akeida (the binding of
Isaac), Jacob on the river bank and his spiritual awakening, Noah and
God's role in natural disasters, anti-semitism/Holocaust,and Israel as a
Jewish State.
The 8th graders will also travel
together for an overnight trip to a theme park to help them bond
socially.
